OCTOBER 2025 - Bhumi Puja
- Bhumi Puja was held on October 24, 2025, marking the beginning of the Ashram construction journey.
- The ceremony was attended by Swami Aparajitanandaji from Chinmaya Mission Chicago.
THE JOURNEY - From Vision to Reality
The Chinmaya Guruvayur Ashram is taking shape step by step. From the Bhumi Puja to structural framing and roofing, each milestone brings us closer to creating a spiritual home for learning, worship and community.
FEBRUARY – APRIL 2026 - Foundation Preparation
- Site grading and preparation began across the property.
- The western berm was installed and water lines were put in place.
- Electrical conduits and erosion-control measures were installed as site infrastructure took shape.
MAY 2026 - Foundation Puja
- Foundation Puja was held at the northeast corner of the building.
- Blessings were ceremonially encased within the foundation of the building.
JUNE 2026 - Foundation Work
- Foundation construction began following the Foundation Puja.
- Concrete foundation elements were completed and allowed to cure before structural framing began.
- CMU foundation walls began taking shape around the building footprint.
JULY 2026 - Structural Framing
- Structural framing began in July 2026.
- Structural beams began forming the framework that carries the building loads to the foundation.
- The Ashram began to visibly emerge from the foundation into its final form.
AUGUST – SEPTEMBER 2026 - Roofing & Framing
- Wood framing followed the structural framing phase.
- Classrooms, office, bathrooms, shoe room, kitchen and mechanical spaces began taking shape.
- Roof trusses were installed in preparation for roof decking, while the exterior ZIP system provided weather protection.
